MJA SUMMER AWARDS - CLOSING DATE FRIDAY MAY 25

The MJA Summer Awards have changed, and most categories will now be judged on the basis of a body of submitted work.

The names of shortlisted entrants will be posted on the MJA website by the end of June and the winners will be announced at the MJA Summer Awards ceremony in London on July 10 2012.

• Individual winners will receive a cheque for £500 plus an inscribed certificate
• Each commended entry will receive an inscribed certificate
• Trophies will be presented to the website and publication of the year winners

 

Categories for 2012

• Freelance journalist of the year (consumer press; print or online)
• Freelance journalist of the year (B2B/professional press; print or online)
• Journalist of the year - staff (consumer press; print or online)
• Journalist of the year - staff (B2B/professional press; print or online)
• Broadcaster of the year - staff or freelance
• Best use of journalistic skills (for a health charity/think tank/NHS Trust or commercial organisation; print or online)
• Medical/health website of the year (supportive evidence, such as increased traffic/new developments/patient feedback to be supplied)
• Publication of the year (supportive evidence, such as increase in readership/innovation/successful campaign/increased media profile, to be supplied)


How to enter

You may submit up to three pieces of work for each category entered. Please note that a separate entry form will be required for each category.

• Do not upload a file of more than 8Mb.

If submitting by post please:
• Download and print the entry form here

Eligibility

All material must have been published or broadcast in the UK between May 1 2011 and April 30 2012.

Entry is open to all, and is free for MJA members. A fee applies for non-members.

Entry fees for non-MJA members - The fee is £15 for each category entered. Alternatively, non-members may pay the MJA joining fee of £40, in which case no entry fees will be required. Membership application forms are available on the MJA home page www.mjauk.org.

Please note that entries from non-MJA members will not be considered unless accompanied by the appropriate entry or joining fees.

Cheques should be made payable to the Medical Journalists' Association and sent to: Philippa Pigache, MJA Hon. Sec., Fairfield, Cross-in-Hand, Heathfield, East Sussex TN21 OSH.
